Here are just a few performers who are still NOT in the “Rock and Roll” Hall of Fame:
Meat Loaf, Ted Nugent, Blue Oyster Cult (who also just
released a great new album), Bad Company, the Guess Who,
Little Feat, Boston, Foreigner, ELP, Blood Sweat & Tears,
Mott the Hoople, Humble Pie, Thin Lizzy, Bachman Turner
Overdrive, Kansas, Grand Funk Railroad and Styx. And I could go on.
But yeah, by all means, let’s induct Eminem, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie and Dionne Warwick.
Any thoughts?

The Flamin' Groovies, Mott the Hoople, T. Rex, 13th Fl. Elevators, Chocolate
Watchband, Poco, Moby Grape, The Charlatans(U.S.), Buzzcocks, Lee Perry were all huge influences on musicians...and yes, I could on...
IMO the shitrag "Rolling Stone" is responsible for most of the bullshit inductions. They need to be excluded from any input.
I think Rolling Stone and the Hall of Fame are both trying to be all things to all people, and that dilutes everything down to the point where it's like making Kool Aid and using about 4 gallons of water and one packet of dust. I'd rather have no Hall at all instead of them trying to find a way to shoehorn everybody in.
All the omissions are part of the story. If it is actually, a "rock n' all" hall of fame, then all rap, hip-hop should be excluded. Some country, folk, jazz and blues could be included, if they have or had an influence from R&R.
I agree with both of you. you wouldn't see Jimi Hendrix in a hip hop hall of fame and you shouldn't see hip hop in the rock hall, but the powers that be have decided to make it a money decision (try to get more people to pay admission) vs staying true to the premise of "Rock 'N Roll". And in the end I think true "Rock Fans" probably will not attend because they feel as simonthecat pointed out, the experience has been watered down with an extraneous element while @ the same time snubbing eligible bands (some listed in post) that would most likely be a bigger draw for the true rock fan (target audience).
I mean I can't think of ANY rock stations that play rap, and while I don't listen to any rap stations, I find it hard to believe they would be playing Rock N Roll music and if either of these stations did, I'm BETTING THEY WOULD LOSE LISTENERS NOT GAIN THEM.
los lobos should have been in there for a decade or two !
some of the nominees should be in the Boring Shit hall of fame LOL
